Celebrity Summit 1/17/09
We're booked on this cruise ... Nice island hopping cruise ... Nothing
big to see that we can't do on our own ... although we will probably use a guide in Grenada ... just to see and do all we want in a short time ... and do a deep sea Marlin trip in another port ... Definitely wanted a balcony and the upgrade to concierge class was peanuts ... considering all the extras one gets ... fresh fruits definitely .. maybe even peanuts too ... Comments on the ports (San Juan, St. Maarten, Domenica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba) or the ship are welcome ... our 2nd Celebrity cruise ... the first rated very highly on service and amenities ... had to stretch to failing the soap holders in the shower to find faults ... Most of the hotels in San Juan are expensive for our pre cruise stay ... but I did find one ...Close to the airport and cruise dock ... a small boutique place ... Coral Princess Inn ... where reviews are mixed with many swearing by but some swearing at this place ... |

There is a Walgreen's around the corner from your hotel and there is a liquor store nearby that has snacks and beverages. There are some small mom & pop restaurants, Baskin Robbins, etc. If you like scuba diving or snorkeling, then you will enjoy cruising to Bonaire. You can dive right from the beach, you do not need to go out on an excursion. http://www.infobonaire.com/snorkeling.html Aruba has beautiful beaches and casinos, if you enjoy that. St. Maarten is one of my favorite islands, I love the beaches on the Dutch side and the French side. This island has some of the best shopping, if you are into that sorta thing. Nice chocolate & confectionery stores. Enjoy your cruise on the Summit. Becca |
