taking bikes from Milan airports
I am not a biker myself, but some time ago a question was asked here
about taking bikes with you when arriving at Milan Malpensa airport. By chance this morning I picked up a leaflet at the local metro station, thinking it was some info about public transport. Instead it is a guide to taking bikes on public transport in Lombardy. I will keep it here in a drawer if somebody has a question to ask. Anyhow concerning Malpensa what it says is : - bike transport is allowed on the Malpensa Express train for free if you have plane ticket and boarding card (they are considered as luggage) - transport not allowed on FNM coaches which replace the train at certain times or occasions - Transport allowed on the shuttle buses for airports but "it is better to mention it in advance". Tandems (bikes for two) not allowed. Contact www.airpullman.com or www.malpensashuttle.com. For Air Pullman service is free. The other companies are not mentioned in the fare sheet. For most other transport means there is a dedicated fare which is described in an appropriate sheet, and other limitations are possible (number or times). The most curious seems the one for the Colle Aperto San Vigilio funicular in Bergamo : "bikes can be transported from the lower station to the upper station" ... but not the other way round ? -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- is a newsreading account used by more persons to avoid unwanted spam. Hmm, I think you could freewheel down. (But you might be in Cremona before you managed to stop!) Alan Harrison |
