Can one travel from China to Russia?

my friend and I (Americans) are talking about traveling to China.Then
By train to Mongolia And then to Siberia...My friend thinks that due
to the fact that we have been to China before and have stamp in our
pasport China..That we will have problams entering Russia. She tells
me that China and Russa don't got along. Will we have any problems?
Also any thoughta on how to do this trip.

The "Trans-Mongolian" railroad. Also check the "Trans-Manchurian" and
"Trans-Siberian" railroads for similar long-distance trips. Do keep
in mind that the train ride takes at least 10(?) days and usually
costs as much if not more than a flight.

There's no problem entering Russia with a Chinese stamp (Russian
authorities might give you trouble if you have certain Islamic
nations' stamps). Apply for your Russian visa well in advance though.
You also need a Chinese visa in advance (i have no idea what Mongolia
requires), but as Americans, you can enter Hong Kong without a visa
and apply for the Chinese visa at any Hong Kong travel agency (it
takes 2-3 days). Certain parts of China require additional permits (I
know Tibet does, there might be others).

Trans-Siberian takes 7 day
Trans-Mongolian takes 5 day
An 8-day Eurodomino ticket for Russia costs 140 EUR...

I was in Beijing last year and the place was full of backpackers
stocking up on visas for the trans-siberian and trans-manchurian
railways.

Unless anything has changed since, I think you should have no problems
at all. But allow a couple of weeks (maybe more) to get you russian
and mongolian visas while you're in china.
