The book has had a special impact in opening up Christian religious
issues that most of the public either were ignorant of and barely
heard of.
In turn this resulted in the publication of other books which expanded
on the errors in Brown's book.

The book that the plot was lifted from - Holy Blood and the Holy Grail
was a best seller 25 years ago.


And there were two novels written even earlier that used reinterpreted
Christianity and Gnostics/Templars (respectively) as their major themes:
Robert Graves's "King Jesus" (1946) and Lawrence Durrell's "Monsieur"
(1974). Both are in an entirely different league from Brown's rehashed
crap.
