On a car trip I need a single nights stay somewhere in Belgium. The time
schedule is very relaxed, so I'm extremely flexible as to where in Belgium -
from the German border in the east to Gent in the west, and as far south
as Charleroi. This being a Saturday, I'm thinking it should be possible to
to get a good deal at a out-of-town business oriented hotel. Ideally with
a small old town nearby.

But so far I haven't really found anything. What is a good site to do this
search on?

Just found this whilst pruning through old bookmarks
http://www.visitbelgium.com/BelgiumEvents2009.html
I've checked and it's still alive.

So what was wrong with using Trip Advisor?
Too easy?

Trip Advisor is reliable with enormous choice.

Your site is without reviews.

If you're referring to that last link, it's an events calender. It
serves as a quick check as to what may be going on.
You're comparing apples to oranges
Oh, and it's not MY site. Hrmph!

It's still mainly an events calender. Apples and oranges can be edible.

I found easily hotels everywhere in the world he http://www.hrs.de
Normally I do my search and I sort the hotels found on price.
I often choose the first (the cheapest one) or the second in the list
and I never had problems at all.

Ciao, Piero.

I can recommend the Hotel Marion in Oostende. Actually, the hotel
rooms have been a bit neglected and look a bit tired, but that's
because they have been concentrating on the "bar area" of the hotel.
In fact, what just used to be a standard-sized hotel bar has now
become a fully-fledged pub in it's own right, with over 300
different beers, more than 50 Jenevers (gin-based drinks) and
various other stuff - it's brilliant. http://www.hotelmarion.be/

I'm a loyal hrs customer myself, but I'm not getting a whole lot of choice
for Belgium. And what I do get have high prices and low ratings. And then
there's the 20 euro/person that seems to be the standard price for
breakfast.

I usually get the best prices from hrs.de.

Whenever I have tried to match what they offered with another booking
engine, the alternate price has always been higher.

If you look at the subject of this thread you should be able to understand why
one would look at the hotel B&B part of the site.

And if you look at the OP you'll find the poster indicates a degree of
flexibility. And so it's quite possible some sort of events info may
be of interest in steering said flexibility.
