Default NYC travel guides

Haven't been to NYC in years and thought we'd get a travel guide before
we go. What is the best? Any recommendations.? Would rather stay away
from Frommers and Fodors, since I find them to have nothing bad about
any place and are thus rather unreliable . Also, don't have any
interest in the ones for backpackers, etc. Something similiar to the
Cadogan guides published for European countries. Thanks Liz

i prefer searching on line. Have you checked out yelp.com It has lots
of local recommendations.

I recommend the Boathouse in Central Park for a swank setting for
cocktails and appetizers. or dinner if you've got a full wallet.

If you're ever in California, check out Things You Should Do
www.thingsyoushoulddo.com
my list of the best adventures, events, hotels, restaurants, etc. in
California. I hope to go nationwide soon.

I would advise against dinner unless you have no particular interest
in good tasting food.
