Default Berkeley Springs, WV experiences

Here are some notes from a recent trip to Berkeley Springs WV.
-My wife and I and our two kids(7 and 4)did a 1 night trip to Berkeley
Springs, WV. This is 1 hour from hagerstown, md and 2 hours from DC.
VERY easy drive.
-Stayed at the Berkeley Springs Inn (Best Western). Nice place,
reasonable with a heated outdoor pool although not big. The pool is
situated right off a bar which was nice.
-Wife had a spa treatment at the Berkeley Springs State Park. Tiled
Roman Bath (natural mineral spring water, fresh and heated to 102 f)
for 15 minutes and 1 hour massage. She said it was a nice experience -
the bath was private (no clothing) and is drained/filled for each
session. Said it felt "industrial". Total price was $73 not including
a tip. The massage was nice - 60 minutes went quick. It was front and
back but not a real deep-intense massage but good. There are several
other spas offering similar ammenities and different options such as
european facials, etc.
-DO NOT EAT at Maria's Italian Garden if you like pizza. It was a
frozen crust (grocery store???). Next time, we'll try Georgie's Pizza
& Pasta. There are other places if you don't have kids but this was
what we did.
-We arrived late morning and went to Cacapon State park, about 9 miles
beyond berkeley springs but it's a nice resort with golf, horseback
riding, etc. We did not stay at the resort but did paddle boats and
canoeing on the lake. Many hiking trails. Coolfont park also nearby
has trails, etc but no boating. Both places have a lake with a beach
and swimming area.
-Overall, a nice trip - my wife is not really a mountains/outdoors
person but it was a good family day/night trip. We went cheap this
time, but if we go again, we may opt for a more pricier cabin at
Cacapon state park (although the best western was actually a great
place to stay with wireless broadband.) The spa was nice, but next
time I may opt to send her to the Inn & Spa at Berkeley Springs.

Good luck!
