Default Is it possable to work your way home?

Hello,
I am looking for a cheep (or free) way to travel to America from
Europe.
I have heard that it is possible to work on a cargo ship in exchange
for passage. Does anyone know anything about this, or another way of
getting to America cheap?
I am not in any hurry to get there.

I would appreciate any info, or suggestions!
Thanks,
Ami
