Book into a hostel (Can't recommend anywhere. I stayed in Footprints.
Soulless, nothing special about it, I wouldn't bother with it..) then
look around for a flat as soon as you get there. It won't take long to
find one. Grab the Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday. Expect to pay a
bond.

I'm of the opinion that the further away from YHA/HI hostels you keep,
the better time you'll have. Unless you are one of those old people
who go to hostels to go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 7am. I sort of
don't understand 'older' people going ot hostels. Do they understand
the meaning of the word 'youth'?

Define 'old.'

I'm with you on that one.

HI hostels are great for high school groups where the chaperon needs to get
the kids under control and in at a fixed hour. I assume that's the "youth"
they're talking about.

For independent travelers, they're what give hostels a bad name. Giant rooms
with acres of bunk beds, silly rules, high prices.
