Default Delta domestic upgrades

Does Delta still sell domestic upgrades to non-medallion
passengers? I believe I remember them doing this a couple
of years ago for $40 for segments under 800 miles. If they
still do this, what is the time window when these become
available? Thanks.

They sell standby upgrades at the gate on some flights, with prices ranging
from $50 for DAB-ATL, $75 for ATL-BOS, up to $200 for ATL-LAX. They may have
changed them, but that's what they were the last I checked.

However, you have to have a ticket purchased in Y,B,M,H,Q, or K class. L, T,
and U classes don't count, as well as award tickets. Also, just because
they're selling upgrades doesn't mean there are actually seats in FC. I've
seen them sell upgrades when there are 0 unassigned seats. I doubt that they
charge you if you don't clear the standby list.

If you are flying with a Medallion person in Y,B,M,H,Q, or K class, they
have unlimited companion upgrades, if you're on the same reservation and
call and request it 12 hours before.

Delta now has unlimited segment upgrades for Medallion members, but if you
have any old ones that haven't expired and aren't Medallion anymore, you can
request an upgrade via the kiosk check-in or at the gate with your old
segments.

Thanks for the information. As a matter of fact, I am an ex-medallion
and have 4 segments sitting in my account. I'll look into using
those. Can I request this upgrade via the on-line check-in as
well?

I believe they have to be done at the airport, or 3 hours before the flight.
