Default Air India A340-300s (and 737-800s)

Air India announced they will acquire the 737-800 and A340-300.

However, there is no mention on either Boeing or Airbus websites. Is
Air India acquiring existing planes?

Regarding A340s, Virgin Atlantic is phasing out their -300s in favor
of -600s, so that may be one source of -300s for Air India. I thought
all of the ex-Singapore -300s had already found new homes.

IIRC, Swiss and SAA are the only current customers for new A340-300s
(the improved -300 Enhanced) if Air India is not buying new copies and
if other carriers like SAS and China Air have finished -300
deliveries. Makes one wonder how much life the -300 line has left
without more improvements.
