Gatwick, Stansted or Heathrow for connection to Edinburgh?
Which airport is the easiest to get to from central London and get through
for flying to Edinburgh? Easyjet flies from both Gatwick and Stansted and British Midland and British Airways fly from Heathrow. Thanks in advance. Jerry |

Heathrow is probably the easiest because of the number of trains that go there, Gatwick is a breeze from Victoria, and Stansted probably third because it is smaller and harder to get to due to the smaller number of trains going there. London City airport is a real pain in the arse if you are on the west side of town, but I don't think they fly to Edinburgh from there anyway. --- DFM |

The Gatwick and Heathrow express services are 2 of the most expensive railways in the world. Stanstead is easy if you are near Liverpool St station. Luton requires a bus transfer after a train from Euston station. Gatwick is accessible from Victoria Station and Heathrow from Paddington station or the Piccadilly line. As of Monday 27th October, British Airways fly London City to Edinburgh. Generally four flights a day each way. For convenience, this is the best option. Do check prices on www.BA.com as in my past experience they compete on price with the so-called 'low cost' carriers. I find London City has the shortest journey time and cheapest cab fare from central London as it's the closest airport t to central London. See http://www.lcy.co.uk/ for airport information. If by "they" you mean the airport, I'm afraid you're wrong. Until Saturday, it's ScotAirways and Flybe. From Monday 27th, it's ScotAirways and BA. Cheers, Jason. |

British European, British Airways and Scot Airways all fly from London City airport to Edinburgh. There's a flight every hour or so throughout the day. http://www.londoncityairport.com London City is probably the most convenient if you're in the east of London or the Docklands financial district. -- -- Chris. |

The Gatwick and Heathrow express services are 2 of the most expensive railways in the world. But you can get the cheaper local train from Victoria, or London Bridge (and various other places) to Gatwick. Stanstead is easy if you are near Liverpool St station. Try www.thetrainline.com for prices and timetables. Also try www.gobycoach.co.uk for coaches from London to various airports if you are on a limited budget - It may be better than the tube for Heathrow anyway as you dont have to struggle with luggage so much. |

So then it could be said that the express is only a couple of quid extra, which is hardly going to make it one of the most expensive in the world tim --- DFM |

It's served by a station on the line serving (among other stations) Kings X Thameslink, Farringdon and City Thameslink. The only bus involveds is from the airport station to the terminal.
