Gatwick to Heathrow

Joan McGalliard typed: Ken Blake wrote: It's mid-day. I should get a 12:30 or 12:45 bus. You'll be fine. The M25 between gatwick and heathrow is hell at the moment. There a major works, and you will be in the contraflow, which can be slow (stop-start or wow! 20 mph). I've taken an hour to get between M4 and M3, but that was later in the afternoon. Note that clockwise on the M25 is slower in afternoon peak than morning - don't delay getting on the bus, sooner you are on it the easier the journey will be. Gatwick to Heathrow

I'll suffer the slight inconvenience of the connecting ride to save several hundred dollars. Must mean that you got non-refundable tickets; yes, they'll change you to a later flight...but did they say how much it'll cost? Nothing, its standard practise if you are booked through with a full fare airline. If they e-mailed you their offer (to put you on a later flight), keep a printout of it. If it was by phone, get a name (maybe even call again, and see if you get the same answer - this is no slight of BA, its common for CSRs of any company to hand out bad information). BA arent my favourite airline but have no reason to doubt their bonafides in this matter Keith |

Gatwick to Heathrow
"Ken Blake" wrote in message ... Next month, we return home form Europe, changing planes in London. But we arrive at Gatwick and then depart from Heathrow. As others have said the speedlink bus costs 17GBP they take CC's at the desk its easy to find, and there shouldn't be problems at your time of day. You don't say how many 'we' are, a pre-booked taxi should cost about 50-60GBP, which might be an option if there are 3 or 4 of you. Dont forget to find out which terminal at LHR you are leaving from. Most BA flights are from T1 or T4 which are a long distance apart. |
