At one time I knew of a direct bus, but I understand it no longer runs*. I
plan to take the train to Rome and then on to Naples. N.B. The cheapest way
by train is to take the FM1 to Ostiense then pick up the IC train from
there. 2nd class totals a tad over 20 Euro. The IC to Naples takes only
about 15 minutes longer than the ES.

*Someone please correct me if there is a bus.

we took shuttle train to Termini and the Eurostar to Naples -- you
can buy the Eurostar ticket at the ticket booth at Da Vinci-- the local
train that goes to Sorrento is accessed from the Naples train station

You can reserve and buy it at home too, at www.trenitalia.com and print out
the receipt for what they call this "ticketless" travel option.

But if you feel like driving. hire a car directly at the airport
and go to Naples with turnpike.-
(should cost about eur 35.00/day)
It does not take more than 2 hours for a normal driver.
then you can go directly to Sorrento and Positano.
