Atlantis Submarines (Hawaii'i)
I'm trying to figure out which island would have the most interesting
sub tour. We're more interested in undersea life than in sunken ships and planes (in part because we intend to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial separately), so my guess is we should pick Kona or Maui over Oahu, but can anyone give me more knowledgeable advice? -- Evelyn C. Yes. Save your money. We took the sub ride out of Lahaina on Maui, and were
disappointed. Basically, the colors of the undersea creatures were not true to life. If you are satisfied just to have the experience of being under water in a controlled environment, have fun...but don't expect much in the way of visual excitement. Bob Gardner "Evelyn C. We did it in Oahu in 2003. Boring. Not worth the time. =R=

Evelyn, it's best if you go snorkeling rather than take one of those
subs. There are plenty of places off Maui and Hanauma bay in Oahu where u can do that. It's cheap too, just bring your googles and flippers. Take it from a native, Fran |

(However, we did a glass-bottomed boat in Australia and found it much better than snorkeling, perhaps because I can't swim and so my snorkeling skills were, ahem, minimal.) However, in Cozumel, one could walk in chest-high water with a snorkel mask and see lots of stuff, so if Hawai'i has places like that, I'm all for it. -- Evelyn C.
