In my experience it's still pretty common to use stairs at
warm-weather airports such as SAN, and I think I've seen them recently

I thought SAN was all jetway?

at LGA at the back door on shuttles to get people off faster. At LGA,
the front door used the jetway so there wasn't a wheelchair problem.

I know they use this on the shuttle but not when there's foul weather.
Maybe on weekdays only.

I think gates 1 and 2 in terminal 1 are both ground level without jetways.
This is the oldest part of the airport. It very much reminds me of the '60s.

Nope. The ADA, if applicab le to an airport, does not require
jetways.
