Default Dawn Princess

We're booked on the Dawn Princess for a cruise to Mexico and I have a
few questions.

In general, how do you folks like the Dawn Princess?

I would like to bring a couple of bottles of my favorite wine with me.
How much do they charge for corkage?

On other cruise ships I have been able to sign for chips in the casino
and have the cost added to my onboard account. Is this possible on the
Dawn? If so, is there an extra charge for this service?

Finally, I would appreciate any tips that someone might have which are
peculiar to the Dawn.

Thanks

We did not use corkage on the DAWN,also just used a little spare cash in
the casino, but if we had it to do over again, would go on the DAWN in a
heartbeat, wonderful ship, and first class service from everyone.

$15 in dining room, free in your cabin

Our family of 4 took a cruise in August on the Dawn Princess - - and we
loved it. No compaints at all. We went to Alaska and the cruise line
met our expectations.

I can't answer your questions as they didn't come up for us. Hopefully
someone else can address them.

Have a great time. You should love it.

Default Dawn Princess

Hi:

We took the Dawn Princess to Alaska last June. Probably ranks as one of
my favorite if not the favorite ship.

As for corkage fee, I kept my wine in the cabin and poured myself a
glass right before going to the dining room taking it with me. My room
steward was very good in keeping me supplied with wine glasses (lol).
Was also pleased that the refrigerator was empty and not crammed full of
mini-bar stuff. You could keep the ice bucket in there which kept the
ice from melting quickly. I also had a six-pack cooler with me I asked
the room steward to fill in addition so ice was no problem.

You can sign up for the chips in the casino but there is a surcharge. I
think it was 3 percent.

Things I really liked about the ship was our outside cabin had a huge
picture window. We were torwards the front of the ship and for a couple
of days I felt like I needed "bread crumbs" to find my cabin. Then my
husband finally shared with me (after watching me make wrong turns) that
if you follow the printed carpet you wouldn't make a wrong turn down an
"offshoot" hallway. Ship was large enough to have everything I needed
but small enough to easily get around and not have to pack a lunch every
time I wanted to return to the cabin. Service was outstanding. We had
personal choice dining and had to wait a couple of times for a table but
no big deal. Just ran back to the cabin and got another glass of wine
(lol). They gave you beepers so you didn't have to hang around. Service
on personal choice was a little slow between courses. Dinner usually
took about 1 hour 45 minutes.

The theater is on the small side but they repeated the shows in the
afternoon or evenings. Get there early (20 minutes minimum) and don't be
shy about taking a seat when someone is saving a row for their friends.
Several times I would see people searching for seats while many were
empty being "saved." Then when the show started and the friends did not
show, they would reluctantly be "released." The shopping was limited on
board so don't count on picking up anything. Husband needed disposable
razors and they weren't carried.

Feel free to e-mail me with any specific questions.

Richard, thanks for all the good info. But I didn't understand your
comment about the pattern in the carpets.
