Unless the situation with the civil war in Nepal (between Maoist rebels and the Nepali government) calms down, definitely go to Ladakh. So far no travelers have been harmed by the Maoists, but there's no guarantee that that will continue as the violence is worsening. The government is losing control of many rural districts, including some of the main trekking routes, and rebels extort money from any travelers they encounter. |
