We saw those trains on several occasions that we drove more or less
along the canal btwn. P City and the north shore. As our schedule
did not permit riding on one we did not investigate further. I see
that Google provides lots of links if you search Groups and Web on
*** panama canal railway ***, here are the links, hope this helps,

Thanks for the links, I've been trawling the net and groups for some time
now. The official site has next to no information, and the other posts all
seem to be from people who did it as part of a cruise. Maybe it isn't open
to independent travellers :-( Guess I'll find out when I get there!

Ah well, thanks anyway, and at least I know where *not* to stay now!
