Default Travel in Australia in July/August

Hello,
We plan to exchange our home with a family in Australia in July/August
2008.
We know that this period is the coldest (mild in fact), but where
would it be best especially for scuba diving ?

Any suggestions will be welcome !!

Obviously up north on the Great Barrier Reef is fine, but you can dive
anywhere in Australia at that time of year, depending upon how thick a wet
suit you are prepared to wear. Where will you be, and what are you looking
for?

Thank you, it is exactly what I have understood by discussing with
other people who have already been in Australia.

Do you think that Brisbane is mild in July /August ?

Compared to Europe, Brisbane is about as mild as you can get for a Capital
city.

I live 150km south of Brisbane on the coast. Winters, by
European standards, are mild. The coldest night may get down
to 8c, but generally the minimum will be over 12c. Maximima
vary from 15-22c. Occasional light rains, never snow or
sleet.

My small coastal village is swelled in population by
"Mexicans" during those months - temporary residents from
South of the Border living in their caravans in our caravan
parks.

Cheers, Alan, Australia

Hey - I wasn't complaining, you lot keep our economy going
(and the bowls club in business:-)

I lived in Glen Waverley for many years before moving this
way myself.
