Will be going from Boston to Cebu in April for two weeks. Haven't been
there in a few years. Just wondering if any recent travellers to Cebu
could give advice on best fares/airlines/routes, etc. I used to like
Cathay Pacific, not sure the best advice now. Is PAL run by Cathay
also? BTW, I do NOT want to go via Manila. Thanks.

BOS to Cebu NOT thru MNL? Rots-a-ruck!! (might be possible on another
asian carrier, though - not a route I know well except that it isn't exactly
a major destination)

One possibility is to take Singapore Airlines out of EWR or JFK through FRA
to SIN. Connect with their Silkair flight (MI566) that goes to Davao (DVO)
with an intermediate stop in Cebu (0915 departure) - thus avoiding MNL. Try:
www.silkair.com

Cathay Pacific still goes HKG - CEB nonstop, so that's a possibility unless
you're avoiding that line.

For specific example:

On Singapore Airlines depart JFK about 2130 to SIN (via FRA) on Day 1.
Arrive CEB about 1300 on Day 3. One stop (no plane change) in FRA (I think
the EWR routing goes through AMS...). Arrive SIN about 0700. Silk Air (MI
566) departs 0915.....walang MNL.

If you don't want to go through MNL you will have to go (if I remember
right) via HKG. Cathay flies that route.

and, yes I also forgot about Malaysian who goes KL-Cebu as well - Ij ust
wonder if it's all that bad to stop in MNL or make the additional changes
(EWR-Dubai-KL-Cebu on Malaysian is do-able for a single airline route)
