Default Google Earth

Anyone else addicted to this program?
http://earth.google.com/

I highly recommend it to those of us with wanderlust. I just wish
there were more high rez areas in some of the more geographically
interesting parts of the world. I'm actually able to zoom in from
space and see the car parked in front of my house. And I just found
Elvis' 747 parked at Graceland. Have mercy!

That said, I noticed two large white spots from 314 miles above
Germany that caught my attention. Zooming in, they are located next
to the towns of Eschweiler, Niederzier and Elsdorf. I assume that
these are strip mining operations. Anyone here know? They are quite
ugly from above.

Also, if anyone is able to locate Ayer's Rock, please post
coordinates.

Did you find the launch towers and the cover of a minuteman silo in

No, but I love looking for a needle in a haystack on this thing My
most interesting finds so far have been Elvis' plane, Fenway Park,
Chernobyl and those weird land formations in Germany.
I just discovered the Google Earth BBS and found some interesting
links there, including what appears to be a re-creation of Stonehenge
in southern Washington State, USA (near Maryhill).
Still trying to find Ayer's Rock and the Great Wall, though.

The resolution is extraordinary in some places.

I can't wait until they add more hi rez, especially in places like
South America and Australia.

I am now. I can actually see my former house on it. I feel a great deal
of virtual travel coming on.

Following up to Martin

I just discovered that there is a paid fir version of Google Earth.
Amy idea what you get for your money that you don't get free with the
free version?

I got as far as the initial page and it started talking about new
Pcs and broadband. Is anybody running it on old PC and
narrowband?
