Default bus travel from Montreal to Fredericton, N.B. & return in September, 2012

Please help me get from Montreal to Fredericton, N.B. & return in September, 2012. The cheapest way -- besides driving -- should be by bus. Does Acadian still travel that route & return? jg

Check with your local travel agent. He/she should have all the information
that you seek.

Acadian doesn't go directly from Montreal to Fredericton.

It seems to be possible to take an Orleans Express bus from Montreal to
Riviere-du-Loup, then change to an Acadian bus to Fredericton. Total fare
would be some $150. Check their respective web sites:

www.orleansexpress.com
www.acadianbus.com

NB: Acadian has announced to close down their entire operation by end of
November.

Martin -

Congratulations for doing the research that him/herself
or any competent travel agent could have done.

Lawrence T. Akutagawa -

Thanks for your inane and totally useless post.

You are quite welcome. I much marvel at all those here who cannot do their
own research but expect others to do their work for them. Even more
marvelous are those who actually do the work for those too lazy to do that
work themselves and expect others to do it for them gratis. As they
say...will wonders never cease!!!

Thank you for your contribution to this community.

It's a perfectly reasonable question, since it's not easy to figure
out intercity bus services, and people here are likely to know.

Greyhound has a vauge and slightly outdated route map which doesn't
list the names of connecting carriers. Their trip planner just gives
a vague error if you search for this trip.

Orleans Express owns Acadian, but you still have to search each
website separately for schedules.

There's also no bus equivalent of Orbitz or Expedia. http://gotobus.com
has some discount buses in the U.S., but not Greyhound or most of the
smaller the incumbents, and not most of Canada. And it won't do trips
with transfers.

In my experience, travel agents often don't know the answers to this
type of question -- if they can't do it in their airline reservation
computer, they don't know how. And who knows if a travel agent not in
eastern Canada would have heard the news that Acadian is shutting down
in November.
