2) Mea Culpa - #s 38 and 44 are identical. My bad. Thanks for the heads

up.
I'll change it when time permits. As for the background, thanks for the

tip,
but, I think you should increase the number of colors your monitor

displays
(unless you were at work and can't do so).

I have it set to 32-bit color. It's just that colors vary a lot from one
monitor to another and what may be readable on one can be pretty tricky on
another. I've made images that looked fabulous on one screen and then had
other people report back that they were illegible on theirs. Or big color
shifts (blue to purple and vice versa seem to happen a lot).

On my screen (Mac, Optiquest V95 monitor, OSX standard gamma & color
profile), the bluish color of the text was close enough to the darker color
in the background that my eyes were going wacky. If it happens for me, it
probably happens for some other people too.

Yes, if it happens for you it will definately happen for others as well and
it will be worse for people with lower settings. I've sent out a few e-mails
to people to ask their opinions and will go to a government computer that I
know is set to very few colors tomorrow to see what it looks like. I've used
their computers before and been shocked to see pages that looked great on my
monitor become almost illegible or completely illegible on their monitors. I
meant to look at the webpage on several flatscreen monitors today, but,
forgot. KM

I'll ask around to see if others had problems with the
background - if so, changing it is very easy and I'll do so when time
permits. KM

Put me on the list of those wanting a new background. Preferably a
single color.

Well, that's 2. I'll make my decision by this time Friday. KM

add another to the list. Great site ... but hard to read, too many
distractions...

That makes 3. I'll make whatever changes by this time Friday, which will be
Saturday for most of you. KM

However logic is against you. It makes perfect sense that in general

a
population that's been oppressed for so long is happier when they're
freed,
especially when it's abundantly clear that the reins of power will be
given
them soon.

The latter remains to be seen. What will happen if the polls indicate

that
the Iraqis want to choose a fundamentalist, anti-Western government?

Polls are designed to influence public opinion, not report it. For

instance
in the recent presidential nomination polls in the United States, the
pollsters spent most of the year demonstrating that Howard Dean was the
odds-on favority for the Democrats. In all states that voted, he didn't

win
any and didn't place in the top three in many. So much for polls. Going

into
the Iowa Caucus the pollsters changed from a wide lead for Dean to a dead
heat between Dean and Kerry (they almost always say it's an even match

just
prior to the voting) - and Kerry won by a wide margin. So much for the
accuracy of polls.

So the polls that claim that the vast majority of Iraqis support the US-led
invasion are also "designed to influence public opinion"?

Glad that we agree on something.
Sjoerd

Why Sjoerd, keep that up and you'll be eligible to be the Leftwing Liberal
poster boy for 2004. I never said a word about polls in Iraq - all my
comments regarded Weblogs and speaking directly to Iraqis. But, your response
is right out of Article # of the Leftwing Liberal Handbook. Congratulations
on your consistency. See how predictable Lefwing Liberals are? KM

#32 When your adversary presents a particularly damning discovery, pervert
it, twist it around, fabricate something out of thin air and accuse him of
something he didn't say, falsely attribute your invention to him and then
proceed to argue against your own creation with the hope nobody will notice.
This is best done by beginning your remarks with "in other words" or "so what
you are suggesting" or "are you saying that..." followed by the most
implausible, irrelevant non sequiturs you can fantasize.

Typical arrogant European's comment. A bunch of nobodies appointing
themselves to decide who is ``exploiting'' whom and how to steal
``exploitation profits'' from other people, while wasting thousands
of euros of other people's money on themselves.

That's the Leftwing Liberal way which kept millions of people in the former
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in abject poverty for decades while party
apparatchiks lived like royalty on the sweat and blood of their brethren. KM

You should feel ashamed that by typing your nickname into Google I
can find plenty of your hypocritical lies to smash your face in.

On the contrary, you haven't been able to find one single lie in my posts.
As we say in Dutch: "je lult jezelf volkomen vast".

Sjoerd

Uh, always a risky challenge. It's hard to say where a lie starts and
an honest error ends or if the whole thing is just being in denial.
Sorry to do this because I generally agree with your positions, and
think Vitaly is a bit of a mutant but::

Yes, by all means, when you can't rebut a messenger, slur the messenger and
stoop to name-calling. But, when you turn 12 you should give up such puerile
tactics and start listening to how rational adults communicate. KM

Heh. I haven't been called a mutant before. Given the context,
I figure it's supposed to be an insult, but it's way too subtle for
my thick skull.

Name-calling is the apogee of what passes for Leftwing Liberal intellectual
discourse. All he's doing is admitting he can't rebut the message or
contribute anything rational to the conversation. And he expects people to
take his words seriously? KM

Many people named "Jesus" speak English on many occasions. Which one did you
have in mind? That's a rather broad question. And by the way, can you tell me
when Lee spoke Chinese? KM

Sjoerd's statement that ``everything above "modest middle class
affluence" should be taxed away'' is not a discussion of wealth equity.
It's an arrogant demand by someone who is bitter and envious.

On the contrary, it is a political statement of someone who believes in
equality rather than in the law of the jungle. Look at the thieves in

Enron,
the NYSE, and so many other corporations. Don't you think that society
should stop such highway robbery?

What, a dozen corporations? How about looking at the thousands of
corporations that don't fit into that category. Citing the exception to prove
the rule is illogic at it's finest. You sound bitter and envious. KM

Don't you Americans go to school or if yes, what nonsense do they teach
you
there? After WWII which ended 57 years ago FYI America did nothing for
Europe. (yes, Marshall Aid, but that was paid back more, much more than
100%)

That's just more propaganda. Only one European country entirely paid back
their World War II debts to the United States. Having a debt forgiven isn't
the same as paying it back. KM
