air conditioning may be making us fat
Carole Allen writes:
WHY will a compromised immune system produce fewer symptoms than a healthy one? As I have explained again, and again, and again, the symptoms of a cold come from the immune response to the virus, not the virus itself. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |

How is this newsgroups not representative of the world? We think you're a loser, and apparently so does the world - which is why your life is so poor. The world has not expressed an opinion. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |

And you go on to explain yourself, or do you just get less hours? It's not either-or. I explain the rule; there isn't any explanation for why the rule exists. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |

Stanislas de Kertanguy writes:
You said there were no French fast food chains, I answered with examples such as Paul and La Brioche dorée. These are even mntioned in the Paris Fast food section of your website (hence the name I gave to the debate). Not everything in that section is a fast-food chain in the American sense. The French chains are mere approximations. I wouldn't call a place that sells mainly rolls and sandwiches and has no place to sit down and has slow service and no trays a fast-food chain. Even in the real fast-food chains in France, the service is so slow that they don't really qualify. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |

David Horne, _the_ chancellor of the royal duchy of city south and
deansgate writes: This is a good example of your dishonesty. You said _universal_. What are they? They are universal because people can distinguish music from noise. Without rules, that wouldn't be possible. Music uses tones and timbres that are pleasing to the ear and arranges them in mathematical relationships to each other that also are pleasing to the ear. Noise does not. Thus, music follows universal rules that distinguish it from noise. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |

air conditioning may be making us fat
Martin writes:
Air conditioning itself may contribute to infection with common cold viruses. The lining of the nose is covered with a thin layer of mucus which protects against infection. Since air conditioners extract moisture from the air they may cause some drying of the protective mucous blanket in the nose and predispose to infection. This is also mythology. Air conditioning extracts moisture from the air, but only because the humidity becomes so high without dehumidification that it is extremely uncomfortable to people. Air conditioned air still has a level of relative humidity that is more than sufficient to avoid drying of the mucous membranes. The fact that hot climates also are very often excessively humid only makes the dehumidification that much more important. The real drying occurs with central heating, which heats the air and dramatically reduces its relative humidity. This is made even worse by the tendency for cold weather to be very low in humidity to begin with. -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail. |
