Money around Asia

For the most part, I agree with Miguel. Use an ATM card as your primary
source. However, this is what my husband and I did:

Took cash out of an ATM once a week (we had limits on how many withdrawals
we could make per month on our account) based on the amount we thought we
needed that week. We were on a daily budget of US$25/day, so we never took
more than that out. In Asia, we took out much less since it is a cheaper
venue.

We also had 2 credit cards with us in case of emergencies. But we were gone
for a full year, hence the back up card.

We also had about US$200 each in cash hidden in moneybelts, $50 of which was
in the form of travelers check and the rest was in cash.

I was almost tempted to do most of it on visa card, but if anything should
