Should I pay a x-charge to cross S.A-Namibia border wtih Car hire ?!

Hello Again,
I just called AVIS in Cape-town and they told me they charge 500$
extra Fee if I go to Namibia !!! Can it be true or something of
missunderstanding ?!?!

This can very well be the AVIS fee. They are not cheap at all as their
market is mainly foreigners arriving at the airport and looking for a
familiar name they know from home. Specially Americans seem to like big
brand names like Avis or Hertz. Look around there are many more very
good rental companies with much cheaper rates and better conditions.
