Searching for someone down under
Hi all
I'm planning a trip to Australia sometime next year (from the US). I'm wondering if anyone can help with how I'd go about finding an old acquaintance with whom I've lost touch for many years? Are there search engines available for name searches? My friend emigrated to Sydney in the early 60's with her parents. Last I knew, she was in Melbourne area, but that's about 35 years ago. Her name was Helle Summy (don't know whether she married and changed it or not). Thanks, Richard |

The only Summy it showed in the Eastern States was in Queensland metropolitan. Maybe if you ring them they may be related. http://www.whitepages.com.au/wp/resSearch.jhtml I'd suggest you contact some of the genealogy sites or ngs; they have a lot experience in looking up the sort of records you may need, such as electoral rolls and marriage name-changes. A Google search shows a Ralph Summy at Queensland University. Summy is a rare name and he could possibly be a close relative. http://www.copri.dk/merging_institutes/SignedBy300.html Peter |
