There may be others flying to Port Moresby and regional
centres, but AirNiugini is the only major one I know of.
Their schedules http://www.airniugini.com.pg/pxmisc/104a.pdf
show direct flights to several regional Asian and Pacific
countries including Singapore, Fiji and Manila (and, of
course, Australia) so you could connect via any of those.

Cheers, Alan, Australia

No, but it's probably the best. I've flown Air Niugini from Cairns to
Moresby 20 or 30 times. Not a bad flight. And you can find worse
places than Cairns to be in transit.

Be sure to get a codeshare which are operated by Qantas. Baggage
delivery on Air Niugini is hit or miss. We had ours randomly unloaded
from an internal to PNG AN flight when they decided the plane was
overweight.

You may have had bad luck, but I've used Air Niguini many times and
never had a problem. Can't say the same about Qantas.

I see they also do Tokyo in about 7 hours, which would be faster than
going to Oz, but it may not be cheaper.
How are the Rascals these days ?
