How Dangerous is St. Petersburg for Americans?

Hypothetical situation....
An American guy has a girlfriend from St. Petersburg, Russia, (She is in the
US as a student) and she wants himto meet her parents.
Would the Russian mob be after said hypothetical person as soon as he got
off the plane?
