Police in Phoenix have arrested a phoenix area couple suspected of
stealing 1,000 pieces of luggage from PHX airport baggage claim areas
and selling hte contents at yard sales or on e-bay

If you lost something couldn't hurt to contact Phoenix Police

Clueless or nonexistent employees in the baggage claim area.

It's been years since I've seen anybody in the claim area checking tags.

Considering the terrible baggage pileups that regularly occur when the
conveyors get jammed, there's nobody there doing anything else either.

at LAX, I almost always encounter the contract security people around
the baggage claim area.

all it would take is a contract security or even some volunteers just
their presence should help but also matching claim stub with bag tag

Perhaps over 10 years ago, MSP made an apparent effort to provide
baggage security, placing a railing around the claim area with uniformed
security at the gates who were to check claim checks against luggage
tags.

That lasted a while and then just disappeared.

Maybe the increased traffic volume compared to the space available for
people to queue up simply made the process impossible to maintain.
