Marrakech and circuit by end december

Hello, We(2 of us) are planning to go to Marrakech by end of december
for 1 week , combining 3 days in Marrakech and 4 days of circuit by
renting car (4X4). Is it well judicious and worth to cross the high-
Atlas at that period or is it to better go elsewhere?or even to make
several one day circuits and returning to Marrakech every evening? Any
experience places to go at that period is welcome. Thanks

I went to Marrakech in the end on Nov. I did a 4day to Dahkla WS and to
Mergouza.
We left early in the morning, Marrekeshcar rental 3 daysOuarzazateEl

we spent one night in Ouarzazate and one in Mergouza(in the sahara Berber
camp)
you don't really need to have a 4x4 it's a lot of $... the roads are really
good. I can't say for dec. but I don't think there is snow there.
we traveled in a white purget (spelling) a small white car....We had no
troubles with it(make sure the registrations match) sometimes they rent you
a car that doesn't match..
When we drove from Mergouza to Zagora we went over dunes etc.. the trick is
just to keep the speed up.. don't slow down or you will get stuck.
If you go into the desert for a night make sure you get a guide. The way to
the camps is very difficult (paths are marked by rocks that only the guides
can see for some reason)
if you rent a car from Marrakesh, make sure they leave the radio in the
car... they say they don't want it stolen.... but hey, that's why you get
the insurance.. it can be a long boring ride with no music.. p.s. the radio
doesn't come in in the mtns, so it's best to bring/buy cassettes to play.
if you want a place to stay in Marrakesh let me know I'll give you the name
of a hotel cheap 90 durhams. It is clean and nice, just of the main square.
