Didn't your source for the 80 percent statistic tell you??
How survivable is it if your plane hits a mountain at 500 knots or falls
30,000 feet?

Maybe for the accidents that happen at airports or the plane is
reasonably intact and the major problem is lethal smoke and evacuation
problems?

what you think of as a 'crash' and what counts are different -- the
answer is that in most of these 'crashes' there are many survivors
