Default Brisbane motel

Hi all

Staying in Brisbane for 5 days at the end of our holiday and just wondered
if anyone has stayed at the "Soho Motel" on Wickham Terrace, looks very good
and also price so any advice would be welcome or similar accommodation /
price thats within 5 - 10 mins walking distance from Queens St.
Thanks.

Don't know about that one John, but in our travels across Australia we've
found we can rely on Budget Motels, very good value and usually well
located. Brisbane has three, one is in S. Brisbane, just a couple km from
city cent

24 Edmondstone St. South Brisbane, QLD 4101

Cheers,

Richard

Hi John

I haven't stayed at the Soho, so I can't help there. I have stayed at
the GoodEarth, also on Wickham Terrace. It was just another
hotel/motel, but clean and comfortable. They are showing between AU$89
and $97 in wotif at the moment with buffet breakfast. The Soho, for a
double w/o breakfast, is AU$82 on wotif.

It's reasonably close to Queen St, but you'd be a brisk walker to do
it in 5 minutes. It's uphill coming home with parcels:-)

It's a reasonable tourist class motel. It's one of a few in that pocket; and
is close to the city (much closer will require BIG bucks), a comfortable
walk, though uphill coming back to the motel.

Thanks for all the replies, I stayed at the Goodearth in 2003 and thought it
was OK for the price, I think I will give the Soho Motel a go this time.
Any info on chinese restaurants in Chinatown area that are worth a visit.
Thanks again.

I've not found a bad Chinese restaurant in Brisbane's Chinatown yet.
Stick to the ones around the Chinatown mall and you'll be fine. There's
a couple of good Japanese, Thai and others around there too.

However, if you really want a treat at low prices try the eponymously
named Vietnamese restaurant in Wickham street.
