MSC Opera Review (GGC2006)
Tom... most mornings the juice choice was grapefruit or a blend called
"Ace". The last day was the first time I saw orange juice and while I didn't have any, it looked like the real thing. Other choices were available in the dining room, I know I saw someone drinking apple juice. Marsha "Tom K" wrote in message ... John S. mentioned that they had a Tang type breakfast drink instead of Real Orange Juice? Did you guys have the same, or real OJ? |

MSC Opera Review (GGC2006)
Diana... this was my second MSC cruise and a large part of why I went on
this GGC was the choice of ship and line. "D Ball" wrote in message ... Thank you, Roland, Lloyd & Marsha L, for providing feedback on your MSC Opera cruise. It sounds like y'all liked the cruise product, plus had great big fun with the GGC gang. I like what I'm hearing and am thinking MSC will be a strong candidate for us when they start cruising out of NYC. Diana Ball near Houston, TX |

Marsha,
I guess I missed your first MSC adventure. Did you do a review? Forgive me, I could have totally forgotten! But I'd love to read your first take if you can point me to it. We've traveled a bit and aren't shy about cruising Euro style. So far, everything I've read is a "thumbs up" with us. Thanks for your feedback. MSC Opera Review (GGC2006)
Diana,
It wound up pretty much "everywhere" when I wrote it, in part because not too many people had even heard of MSC back then. Here's the link on Sea Cruise Reviews for it: http://www.seacruisereviews.com/bycr...p?cruiseid=966 Marsha "D Ball" wrote in message ... Marsha, I guess I missed your first MSC adventure. Some of the passengers said it was from frozen. Being in Utah, I don't get fresh OJ very much, so I don't know the difference between fresh and frozen. roland |

Wow! Don't know how, but I had missed that review. It's a great read, very
informative and entertaining. Thank you so much for re-posting the link. So, did you figure out the AARP discount? I'm just a few years behind you. Is 50 the magic number for taking advantage of AARP benefits? Diana |

MSC Opera Review (GGC2006)
Thanks Diana!
I figure if I'm gonna write one I want to make it worth readingG Yes, I did get the discount eventually, but they aren't doing it now. It seems that all one had to do was be a member of AARP and I joined before my 50th birthday. Marsha "D Ball" wrote in message ... Wow! Don't know how, but I had missed that review. MSC Opera Review (GGC2006)
I never did really write a review of my MSC Lirica sailing....maybe I'll
get to that this long weekend, but I remember just one and only one thing about the breakfast buffet....pain au chocolat!!!! Jeff Marsha L wrote: LOL! That's the thing... it wasn't hidden at all... but if one just went down either buffet line and then sat at a table on the same side they missed a lot and that's what I did at lunch on sailing day. But there was another section all the way forward that had desserts at lunch and cold cereals, yogurt and fruit salad at breakfast. The condiment tables were on either side of that. I had coffee this morning... French Roast tasted really good... will be drinking more than I usually do so I can feel free to try out the four pounds of I bought during the Great Coffee QuestG. I LOVE those things... have for years... but I couldn't understand why they
labeled them "chocolate buns" on Opera... the translation sells them short, IMO. Marsha "Jeff" wrote in message news:FyxIf.32818$lo3.17775@trnddc07... I like what I'm hearing and am thinking MSC will be a strong candidate for us when they start cruising out of NYC. Diana Ball near Houston, TX Hi Diana, MSC is a good, stong product, and a different product then the main U.S. lines. They need to market themselves as an Italian Cruis line, something different then the run of the mill cruise line, and do away with some of the "Americanized Food" at lunch and dinner. Keep the "Americanized Breakfast" in the dinning room, and get a few more of the wait staff to do a little better English. Some people are going to argue with this statement. I think that most the mass market cruise lines in the U.S. are pretty much the same product. They have a few differences, but they all do things the same way. They attrack the same market share, and go to the same ports. There is not anybody really doing something different. Years ago, we sailed on a Ukrainian flagged ship because it was different, and went to Belize and Honduras. A few years later, the mainstream cruise lines started calling at Belize and Honduras. Now, MSC is calling at the Dominican Republic, and has an Italian themed cruise ship, which is different. Not the run of the mill cruise. Now, the Polka group out of I think New York likes MSC. They are going to be using this cruise line for a while. I think there is a market for non mainsteam cruise lines, if they market themselves properly. Some of us are a bit tired of the same old hat! roland |
