Default Galapagos Ships

We are interesting in a trip to the Galapogos Islands and are seeking
advice on
what ship/s might be best. Any ideas? So far we have read about
Celebrity Xpedition and Nation
Geo/Lindblad.

Thanks Lisa

The Skeptics Society has a cruise next year on the Xpedition -
we're considering it though it's expensive in comparison to
other vessels that are more highly rated. I guess it's the area
and exclusivity (to the Skeptics group) that makes it so costly,
as well as the open bar and paid gratuities.

But if we go to the Galapagos, it'll be on the Xpedition - a
ship built for the region.

Where can I find more information on other highly rated ships in that
area? Thanks Lisa

I was comparing the cost-per-day for a given type of room.
Xpedition is Xpensive at $300 per person per day in an
ocean-view room. A balcony on a HAL ship usually costs much
less, even factoring in the 'free' drinks and 'prepaid'
gratuities on Xpedition.

Not many ships make a business of the Galapagos... your TA is
the best bet for good information.

My favorite is the Quasar Expeditions (galapagosexpeditions.com) small
yacht cruises to the Galapagos. The small ships can go where the big
cruises ships can't. The yachts themselves are beautiful and historic.
One was used by Princess Grace and Prince Rainer on their 1956
honeymoon. You can pick from active cruises or nature-focused cruises.
You can't beat the personal attention you get. It's a -real -vacation.
