Default New on-line guide to the Kruger-to-Canyons Biosphere & South African Lowveld

Folks -

We've laboured long and hard to try to bring together something
approaching a single on-line point of call for information of benefit
to travellers to the UN-designated Kruger-to-Canyons Biosphere (K2C).
In particular, we have developed a range of resources that we hope
will be of interest to those who have visited, and now need to know
more.

Internet resources have historically been patchy (driven largely by
the luxury safari lodges appealing to a wealthy foreign organised tour
market) in South Africa's Central Lowveld, of which K2C forms a
substantial part.

The UNESCO Biosphere Programme recognises areas where there are
particularly acute conflicts in the sustainable use of land and, in
particular, between the relief of poverty and a degree of protection
for threatened ecosystems.

K2C is fortunate in having the tourist drawcards of the Kruger
National Park and Blyde Canyon (the world's third largest, featuring
stunning riparian scenery) within its boundaries, and it is hoped
that tourism will drive economic development and social amelioration
in an area where desperate poverty and a number of Africa's
sub-Saharan modern ills are often found.

We would welcome visitors to this new website, and their comments and
thoughts on the evolving coverage.

You may find it at http://www.kruger2canyons.com

I commend those numerous members of the community that have
contributed to it to you

David
