Doubling Up In A Suite $

Thinking about another cruise and the wife brings up the idea of taking
our two grown children. Of course I'm looking at my wallet and
wincing. Financially speaking, is there any advantage going for a suite
and bedding down four people versus two (interior) cabins?

If so, what is the terminology used by the cruise lines for this
practice?

You'll want a quad if you're going to put all four in one room. Look
for the biggest thing you think you can afford. The third and fourth
are at a lower (sometimes much lower) price.

Depends on the ship and the type of suite. Ideally, for four adults,
the way to go is with something like Princess's "Family Suite" or RCI's
"Royal Family Suite." Two bedrooms, two baths, and a shared living
area/balcony.

Many of the "regular" suite layouts seem to have the other two pax
sleeping on the sofabed.

You also might think about a balcony cabin or minisuite in combination
with an inside close by, so that there's a balcony or living area that
all can share.

The advantage to having two cabins, is having two bathrooms. Getting
dressed at the same time could cause a problem, but not if you schedule
it right. Plus, the guys could shower and shave in the locker room of
the gym.

Every morning I wake up at 5:00, even when I am cruising. In order for
me to stay up for the midnight comedy show, I have to take a nap in the
afternoon. I put my children in their own cabin, so they would not
disturb my afternoon nap. They dropped by my cabin a lot anyway. LOL

Tobieon an Island in the Pacific

We travel as a family of 4 and, to date, have never found a quad arrangement
that is less expensive than 2 cabins. The plus of the extra bathroom, as
Becca mentioned, is HUGE.
