I haven't seen one here (UK) for years.

yes, just do it with decorum. Look out for places where yobs have
caused problems and theres an alcohol ban, there will be signs.

Even in those areas, drinking alcohol in public is not an offence. Failing
to stop doing so when instructed by a Police officer is.

Usually its the town centre of a place where shell suits and baseball
caps are considered formal wear.

Anywhere with a significant homeless population is also likely to have one.

No, no - I said in the UK. The north doesn't count. ;-)

Nor me.

Travelling with a friend in B.C.Canada last year I was amazed when he
filled up in a country station and the attendant not only filled the
tank but cleaned the windscreen AND offered to check the oil. Seemed
like something from the 1950s.

Wearing a Shell suit?

Goodness no.

Except for prices Ferriby is stuck in about 1957.

He wears an elderly set of blue dungarees, a woollen hat of indeterminate
colour and is always wiping his hands on a heavily stained cotton cloth.

Thanks for your help.

depends on by-laws...you can't walk around Windsor with an open bottle
of wine on a Saturday night whilst wearing yellow underwear....or
something, the Policewoman growled....
