Last thing you want is to be sun burnt while on holiday.

If they're next to a tall building, but on the other side to where the sun is during the daytime, they're in the shade most of the time. I wonder why the building planners don't think of things like this. Perhaps they do. Isn't it just fine that one can be as much as possible in shade in places like Bangkok. I also think it might be intentional. My building's pool is in the shade pretty much all the time, and it was clearly constructed that way - it doesn't have to be. And I for one am happy about it. So can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced hotel in Bangkok with in-room internet (wired or wireless)? Thanks. To answer my own question, I am posting from the Royal Benja (end of Suk soi 5). 4000/night rack rate, but a 5-minute walk down the street to the first travel agency I encountered got it for me at 1600/night. 24 hours of ethernet costs an extra 650, so the total ends up around US$55. On some floors the network is flaky (they use that HomePNA ethernet-over-phone-lines stuff) so make sure you're on one where it works (31 is known to be good). Also, Big John's guesthouse over on soi 55 reportedly has wifi coverage in all the guest areas but it was booked up when I stopped by. Would have been a lot cheaper at about 300/night. But this way I get buffet breakfast, which is worth any amount of money to me. miguel -- Hit The Road! Photos from 32 countries on 5 continents: http://travel.u.nu |

But my point was that even at the bottom of a well here in Thailand, there is bound to be sunshine some of the time. So I find it hard to understand that an outdoor swimming pool could be in the shadow "constantly". But I guess this is tetrapyloctomy..... :-) Trond |
