What's the deal with flights within Europe? Restrictions in place?

Are the restrictions against liquids, gels and pastes in place also
for flights within the Europe (flights not going to or from the UK
that is) ?

Say, a flight from Paris to Helsinki, or a short-haul commuter flight
within Germany?

Are they forcing you to throw your stuff away at AMS or FRA before you
go through general security screening - or only at the gate if you are
boarding certain planes (ie to UK or USA) ???
