In Cartagena there is a tourist informaion point on the pier,
but you may miss it if the descent gangway is close to the
pierhead.

A taxi will offer a tour of the monastery for the view, possibly the
fort
and definitely the old town for about 25 dollars per person,
and those who took.that option said it was fine

Failing that if you walk outside the dock gates and beyond the
taxis inside you can get a taxi to the clock tower (Torre Reloj) for
10 dollars or negotiate down to eight, You can then spend two or
three hours wandering round the old town. There are a couple of
money changers quite close to the tower, and the torture museum,
the main museum (in the same building) and the gold museum are
worth a look and you can sit in the small park nearby and watch
the locals and tourists go by.

Dollars are usable in the bookshop. Lunch was paid for with a
credit card, and as the Columbian Peso uses the dollar sign
the total was $95,000, which converted to about USD45.

The fare back to the dock was negotiated down to 10,000
pesos - about 5 dollars.

This information is less than a month old

In Ocho Rios go rafting on the Martha Brea river.

It is a leisurely 1-1/2 hour ride on a bamboo raft with a raft captain as
your guide.

We loved it.
