Day trips in Hawaii?

If one were to go to Hawaii, and stay on one island, is it possible to
go on day trips through a tour company of otherwise to sites on the
other islands?

This would save a wasted day of travel if it was possible. You know,
check out of a hotel, shlep all your stuff to the airport, transfer to
another hotel, register, get into room only at check in time. That
uses a valuable vacation day simply transfering from one hotel to
another.

There are one day tours of the other islands, or you could simply do it
yourself. It generally doesn't take me that long to check in and out of
hotels, and I generally don't pack much for Hawaii. Have you considered
the lost time from making the return flight and transportation to and
from the airport for that return flight?

Certainly. Check with the concierge at the hotel where you plan to stay
for information or just do a web search.
