Default Short break in Berlin

I am considering going to Berlin for a short visit of three days with
my wife and two kids aged 15 and 11. I was wondering how suitable a
city it is for a short visit. Where is the best area to stay etc?
Thanks.

3 days is certainly rather the minimum but OK.

Have a look at the map in the mid of the page
http://www.berlin-tourist-informatio...prache=english
Best to stay are the districts
City East: Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg
City West: Tiergarten, Schöneberg
If you want to stay in an hotel check http://www.hrs.com if they did not
have better prices (often they will). For hostels it is mostly the best to
book directly throug the hostel homepage.

Berlin Welcome Card
http://www.berlin-tourist-informatio...lcomecard.html
Gives 72-hour free public transport in Berlin + Potsdam. Plus discounts for
many tourist attractions.
You would need 3 of these cards (2 children under 14 are free with any
card).
3 x 21,- = 63,-

or you could travel with a mini group ticket for up to 5 persons, which is
EUR 14,- for Berlin and EUR 15,- for Berlin + Potsdam
2 x 14,- + 1 x 15,- = EUR 43,-

Mitte is the place to be in Berlin right now. I can recomend the Hotel
Hackescher Markt (www.hackescher-markt.de). Have fun!
