Default Holiday homes in Aus?

Hi.

I've never been to Australia, but am hoping to visit my brother out there in
December. My Mother might also come out and we'll all spend Christmas
together. In Britain, there are loads of companies that rent
holiday-cottages (like English Country Cottages) to a high standard. Is
there any such thing for Australia? Part of the problem is where to stay,
which leads me onto my second question.

My Brother's staying near Toukley - north of Sydney. I literally know
nothing about Australia, and unfortunately all this planning is happening at
the last minute. We'd like somewhere out of Sydney, in the countryside with
views - North Coast perhaps? - within a few hours driving distance of
Sydney, and near a railway line. Can anyone recommend either a company
offering holiday homes in this part of Aus, or even one particular home for
rent?

Many thanks for any advice, and apologies for the vague questions!

Will

There are plenty - but the problem is that Christmas is the busiest time of
the year and many are booked out 12 months in advance - and prices will be
at their highest.

You will find something, but it won't come cheaply.
