Default USA->SA Travel- Booked from SA?

I'd love to travel to South Africa again. Due to the exchange rate
(USD-ZAR) it is much cheaper for me to book my flight from SA, rather than
USA. Is this possible? Legal? Could I get a legitimate SA travel agent to
book my trip from USA to SA based on the SA price? The cost of getting
there is the major hurdle, I'm not a wealthy person!

I inquired about this myself -- you can only pay for a ticket in South
African Rand if your travel originates in South Africa.
