How to get from Johor Bahru to Changi airport?
We plan to travel to Malaysia later this year. As flights from Europe
to Malaysia are more expensive than flights to Singapore, we will book an open jaw flight from Europe to KUL and back from SIN to Europe. On the last day of our journey we will drop the rental car at Johor Bahru and head for Changi airport to get our return flight. What is the best method to get from Johor Bahru to Changi? Can we just hail a cab in downtown Johor Bahru that takes us to Changi, and if so, how much will it cost approximately? |

There is no direct public transport from JB to Singapore Chnagi Airport.
You may wish to take a JB- Singapore cab (Yellow Color) or take a bus across the causeway. PLs don't cab thats are private car. That will be your own risk. After crossing the causeway you can hail a Singapore cab to Changi Airport. Pls bear in mind the causeway always jam. You can get stuck there up to 2 hours. Happy Holiday. : ) "Oliver Laumann" wrote in message ... We plan to travel to Malaysia later this year. You can get stuck there up to 2 hours. That would be fine if you have a big budget. For a budget traveller, take the 170 bus or Causeway(yellow) from the Larkin main bus terminal as they are planning to stop people boarding at the Checkpoint. The Causeway is not always jammed - it depends on the time you travel and whether it's the eve of a long week-end. But do allow sufficient time for travel. By taxis, it would take about 1 to 2 hours to reach Changi. By 170 bus to Kranji and then MRT, allow 2 to 3 hours. Feel free to email me if u need more info. I live in JB and travel often into Spore. There is a Singapore bus service from Jalan Larkin JB to Singapore where you alight at some MRT station and continue to Changi airport - the service is no. 170 if I am not mistaken and besides Jn Larkin there is another stop to pickup and alight. Or you take JB taxi and go straight to Changi aport. "Oliver Laumann" wrote in message ... We plan to travel to Malaysia later this year. Local JB cabs are not allowed into S'pore (vice versa) unless licensed to cross the checkpoint. A cheap and good way: Hire the cross border licensed cab (a reputable hotel concierge or probably your car rental clerk can advise you the whereto). They'll drive you all the way to Queens Street in S'pore and from there you can either hail a taxi to Changi airport or you can hop on the mass transit rail at Bugis stationm which is a short walk from Queens St. A cheaper way: Get to the JB-S'pore express bus terminal and the bus will also bring you to Queens St same place as the cab would. Board the mass transit rail (MRT) at Bugis Station to Chang Airport. For the cheap cheap and adventurous....walk across the causeway (3km hot sun, no shade). Have your passport stamped and board a mass transit rail at Woodlands Station which is a little distance (abt 1.5km hot sun, some shade, some slope) from the immigration checkpoint. That will bring you to Changi Airport. Sorry can't help you on the $$$ here for the cabs and bus. The transit rail (MRT) will cost you abt S$1.70. You need an additional S$1 for refundable deposit for the ez-link card. |
