Carnival misses port... throws family off ship
http://caymannetnews.com/news-6670--1-1--.html
OK... so the Carnival Conquest missed a port due to a medical emergency. People get upset... one man starts a petition and gets abusive and belligerent (according to Carnival) and he and his family are put off the ship at the next port and flown back to the US. What do you think? What kind of compensation do you think is necessary when a cruise ship misses a port due to an emergency? -- George Leppla http://www.CruiseMaster.com May 12, 2008 - 5 nt New Orleans http://www.cruisemaster.com/fantasy.htm October 26, 2008 Sleazy 5 http://www.cruisemaster.com/sleazy5.htm Feb. 8, 2009 Solstice Valentine http://www.cruisemaster.com/solstice.htm |

What do you think? What kind of compensation do you think is necessary when a cruise ship misses a port due to an emergency? Fees saved and a round of drinks on the house... er ship. I think the suggested reimbursement would be a little low. Think the port savings was probably a little more than that.. let alone the round. |

I think the man who was upset should be ashamed of himself as should anyone that gripes because they are fortunate enough not to need emergency medical assistance. How can they begrudge anyone else that help? They should be keelhauled and not given any kind of compensation. People complain too much and about all the wrong things. |

We haven't missed because of an emergency, but the last time we missed Grand Cayman due to rough seas, Royal Caribbean had a shipwide open bar for an hour. That was nice. For a medical emergency, there but for the grace of God. Count your blessings and be happy with what you've got. ~ Peri -------- leaving for LA tomorrow, and the Mex Riv on Sunday. Yay!! |

The complainer is probably one of those people who consider themselves so important that no-one else matters. We have all met such. It would be tempting to put them ashore a little ahead of docking. That's how I read this story. Anybody else? I would be grateful that it wasn't my medical emergency. What did the passenger expect the Captain to do, let the ill passenger die so that the disgruntled passenger could enjoy his port of call? Cruise itineraries are never guaranteed. iuki |
