Default Hotels Replacing Bibles With koran, etc trash bible

I spent two nights in a hotel in Tangier once and do not
recall seeing a Koran in our room. We were woken up early
in the morning by loudspeakers outside calling us to prayers
though.

They're not usually distributed in hotels frequented by foreigners as the
Koran is supposedly best read in classical Arabic. The loudspeakers probably
weren't calling *you* specifically to prayer. Here we have a Shi'a mosque a
few doors away that uses a range of talented voices that I either stop and
listen to, or after several years of living in countries with significant
Muslim populations, sleep right through - especially through the fajr at
dawn.

Well, you know how much evangelical Christians hate free-market
capitalism. They would rather centrally control what products and
services businesses can provide, as the ideologically similar
communists do.

Evangelical Christianity is just Stalinism with more elaborate
ceremonies.

I respect non Christians immensely because their belief system is as
personal to them as mine is me. Having said that, this has to be imo
one of the lamest posts I have ever read anywhere. What some people
won't do with their hate and rage to make a statement. The funny
thing is maybe five people in total have read it. I just grasp
someone's hate for anything as good as Christianity. When I think of
the Red Cross, Salvation Army and other Christians groups that have
sent food and goods overseas in my heart I know they're a basically
good people. Like any movement you have your fake Christians and
charlatans. It even says that in the Bible. I always remember Man is
not perfect and never will be.

The Gideons are the ones offering free Bibles.
Have you seen any Muslims doing that with
the Quran?

Heh. Been there many times. And still recall little about it.

Yes. It's that good!

Think of it as the beginning of a classic Queen track...

That said and FWIW, I think that it's *incredibly* unlikely that the
Qu'ran would be spread around as the Bible is distributed through the
Gideons et al, not least because as we have all gathered, many Muslims
take their Holy Book incredibly seriously, and allowing the
possibility of having it treated in a disrespectful way as say hotel
distribution would allow would be thought to be - at least by those
who are in principle able to pay for the distribution - unacceptable.

Mind you, I'm rather with Pratchett on this.

Red Cross is Secular. It was supposed to be a reverse color version of
the Swiss flag..to symbolize neutrality. I would not support it with
my donations were it not secular.

You wouldn't. Moslems have a whole flock of rules about how to handle
the Koran, similar to Americans with the flag, and one of them is that
a non-believer may not handle a copy.

Somehow, the title of this thread reminded me that many of the hotels
in Utah come supplied with a copy of the Book of Mormon.

Hotels replacing Bibles with new 'intimacy kits'

Hotel chains are removing Bibles from guest rooms, replacing them with
"intimacy kits" and adding "One Night Stand" packages as well as
"romance concierge" personnel to their offerings, according to a new
report in Newsweek.

Anyone who actually wants to read the bible when they are staying in a
hotel (a tiny minority, I should imagine) is perfectly entitled to
take their own. I would be somewhat surprised if such folk didn't
always have one with them anyway.

The Bibles in hotel rooms don't belong o the hotel, anyway. They
are distributed by the Gideons International. To be religiously
fair, the hotel should also allow the Mormons to stick a Book of
Mormon in rooms. And the Muslims the Quran, and....
