London at Easter
Can someone clarify whether stores are open and on which days over Easter?
The Tripadvisor site http://tinyurl.com/dyfwcd says that stores close on Easter Sunday, but Harrods http://tinyurl.com/c48b5e appears to be open. Thanks T. |

I think it would be most unlikely that any major stores will be open on Easter Sunday. Ian |

Shops in England which have trading space of more than 3000 square feet (which, of course, includes H A Rods) are not allowed to open at all on Christmas Day or Easter Sunday. -- JohnT |

H A Rods is owned by a non Christian and so is excluded? Certainly, but only if his restaurants and cafés don't serve any food or drink until sundown during Ramahdan. Similarly, M&S would have to close on Saturdays. -- JohnT |

Perhaps it was he who asked them to open on Easter Sunday so that he may buy a present for Betty's Official Birthday. -- JohnT |

If the majority of directors are 'persons who observe the Jewish Sabbath, then any large store owned by a company can open on a Sunday without restriction. However, it also has to close on the Jewish Sabbath to qualify. Colin Bignell |
