Can someone clarify whether stores are open and on which days over Easter?
The Tripadvisor site http://tinyurl.com/dyfwcd says that stores close on
Easter Sunday, but Harrods http://tinyurl.com/c48b5e appears to be open.

Thanks
T.

I think it would be most unlikely that any major stores will be open on
Easter Sunday.

Shops in England which have trading space of more than 3000 square feet
(which, of course, includes H A Rods) are not allowed to open at all on
Christmas Day or Easter Sunday.

H A Rods is owned by a non Christian and so is excluded?

Certainly, but only if his restaurants and cafés don't serve any food or
drink until sundown during Ramahdan. Similarly, M&S would have to close on
Saturdays.

As far as I'm aware M&S is a company quoted on the London Stock Exchange and
is no longer owned by a single family.

As such I don't think it's entitled to the special dispensations given to
businesses operated by a specific religion.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.

It lies. The store is not permitted to open on Easter Sunday.

Many stores used not to be permitted to open on any Sunday.

This didn't stop them from doing so for almost 20 years.

Prince Phillip was right!

Perhaps it was he who asked them to open on Easter Sunday so that he may buy
a present for Betty's Official Birthday.

If the majority of directors are 'persons who observe the Jewish Sabbath,
then any large store owned by a company can open on a Sunday without
restriction. However, it also has to close on the Jewish Sabbath to qualify.

What about stores owned by Muslims?

Same

One assumes that if you are a follower of Lord Ganesh you can shut on
Tuesday and open Sunday as well.
